Thursday, Jan 13: Congratulations to MM, MS, LE and JW for a great job at the Math/Science Olympics! Thank you also to our volunteer parent drivers. Today we had our math test in the morning and we worked on our projects that are due soon. Check the homework section for the due dates and the Handouts section for the assignment sheet for the science project. Check out the Student zone for updated websites!
Wednesday, January 12: Students that are attending the Math/Science Olympics tomorrow are reminded to meet me at the school at 8:30am SHARP. We will be travelling to William Dunbar Public School in Pickering.
Tuesday, January 11: Today I assigned the final assignment for our Human Body unit. It is due next Friday. Look at the Handouts section for the assignment sheets. Reminder: math test Thursday.Monday, January 10: Today we took a look at the curriculum expectations that we are achieving through our poetry unit. We reviewed the 2-step problems in math in to prepare for our math test on Thursday. I also introduced their new drama project (tableaux) and we practiced using the book "Where the Wild Things Are". Also, I sent home the January Scholastic order forms for today. The orders are due on January 24. Please note I will no longer accept cash for Scholastic, only cheques.
Thursday, January 6: Tomorrow is our trip to the Science Center. We will be leaving at 9am and returning at 3pm. Thanks in advance to the parent volunteers who are joining us on our trip! Please make sure your child has snacks and a lunch for the trip. Important notice: Please bring a lunch that can be easily carried around the Science Center. We will not be using the lockers, so your child should bring something light. Also, please have them wear a warm sweater so they don't have to carry their jackets around the center (we will leave them on the locked bus).
Wednesday, January 5: I have sent home marked assignments. Please take a look at these and read the comments with your child. We are nearing the end of both our human body unit and our addition and subtraction math unit, so a final assessment will be announced shortly. We are starting a new language arts unit on word choice and usage in poetry and prose. Please encourage the use of the personal dictionaries that we made in class on Tuesday. If you have any favourite poems or a poem book at home, please bring them in!
