Coronation Grade 5 Gifted

February Updates

Friday, February 18: I have posted two new videos in the Youtube section of the website. Also, I wanted to briefly mention a very positive afternoon we had in our classroom. Some students were struggling with the math homework, and the students who understood it volunteered to help out those that didn't. I really appreciate that type of kindness and generosity in my classroom. Also, I want to praise the students who asked for help from their fellow classmate. Sometimes asking for help can be a very difficult thing to do. Since September, time and time again I see my students helping each other out- well done everyone! Way to be 'that class'!
Thursday, February 17: Report Cards were sent home today. Please return the envelope and the parent and student communication sheet.
Monday, February 14: Thank you to all the parents who brought in food for our Valentine's Day party! I have also posted some more games in the Student Zone, check it out!
Thursday, February 10: Recently, we have been having issues with lost and misplaced items, specifically shoes. From now on, please bring in a plastic grocery bag so we can hang shoes from the coat hooks. These bags will should be put into the students' backpacks at the end of the day, to avoid a mess on the floor at the end of the day. Thank you!
Wednesday, February 9: We are starting our new science unit on energy conservation. We began discussing hybrid cars and their use of energy. We have also started our new geometry unit. Check out the new Youtube link I posted- Blue Man Group's "Can you Hear?".
Friday, February 4: We have finished up our science projects and we are now back on track with our poetry unit. I introduced everyone to Sarah Harmer and, just recently, Joni Mitchell. I have put up song links in the youtube section of the website. I also added an interesting news article about a code breaker in the Cool Websites area of the website. I returned a large amount of marked work recently so please take a look at that. I also returned the recent Measurement math tests today.
